Our campground guidelines are based on

Camping is for everyone. Our rules and regulations are designed to allow everyone to enjoy camping.
We are approximately one (1) mile from a public swimming beach on the north end of Higgins Lake. It is roughly a five minute drive from our campground. You can also walk or bike to the lake. There you will find a children's playground, bathroom facilities, picnic tables and a gazebo.
No. All outside firewood is prohibited due to spread of disease. Certified firewood can be purchased at the Campground Store. Any outside wood must be abandoned prior to entry (inquire at store for assistance). Violation will result in a $150 fine by local authorities or Campground Security.
We have lost an additional 20 trees this past season due to the spread of disease brought in by outside firewood. Help us preserve our trees!
We do not have a fire curfew at this time. All campfires must be within the fire ring provided on each site.
We allow only one recreational vehicle (RV) and one vehicle per site.
No, we do not allow tents to be set up around our lodging units. Please book a tent site for any tents you are planning to set up. Some of our lodging units are near tent sites, you can use our Select My Site feature to book close sites.
We do NOT allow any outside firewood into our campground! All outside firewood is prohibited due to potential spread of disease. Certified firewood can be purchased at the Campground Store. Any outside wood must be abandoned prior to entry (inquire at store for assistance). Violation will result in a $150 fine by local authorities or Campground Security. Please help us save the trees!

Quiet Time is 11 PM—8 AM.
All campers should return to their site by 11 PM and all daily visitors/guests are required to leave by dark. Activities and volume settings must be contained within your site at all times. All guests deserve the right to peace and quiet within their campsites. Our quiet hours are strictly enforced.
Michigan is a smoke free state which requires all smokers to remain 50' away from any building. The state also views vaping under the same laws as smoking.
All buildings are NON-SMOKING. This includes lodging. Deep cleaning and fumigation charges ($250) will apply for all smoking in non-smoking areas.
Facilities in this park are for use by registered guests only. Visitors are required to register and pay day use fees at the office before entering the park and must sign an agreement to abide by and be subject to park guidelines upon admittance. All visitors must leave the park by 10PM, unless registered as an overnight guest. Please register overnight guests by 8 PM in the office. Passes are required to be visibly displayed on dash at all times for security purposes.
Yes! We allow the use of e-bikes on the grounds. We do not allow the use of dirt bikes.
2026 and 2027 Reservation & Cancellation Information
The Higgins Lake Campground Cancellation Policy:
All reservations must be paid according to the payment terms outlined at the time of booking. A confirmation email will be sent to the email address provided when the reservation is completed. By making a reservation, you agree to abide by The Higgins Lake Campground cancellation policy and all campground guidelines during your stay.
Payment Terms for Advanced Reservations
Reservations made more than 160 days prior to arrival may choose to pay a minimum deposit of 20% at the time of booking, with the remaining balance due 14 days prior to the original scheduled arrival date.

NEED TO CANCEL?
If you need to cancel your reservation, cancellations must be completed through your reservation portal located in your confirmation email by the deadlines listed below to be eligible for a refund. Text messages, direct messages, phone calls, or mailed notifications are not accepted as valid cancellation requests.
Please note reservation payments made after the following deadlines are non-refundable and the entire payment will be forfeited. Cancellations made after the following deadlines will result in entire payment beings forfeited:

A no show will be treated as a cancellation outside of the above guidelines and no refund will be issued. If you will be arriving after 11:59PM, please notify the campground in advance. Failure to notify the campground may result in your site no longer being available.
Our Holiday and Special Event cancellation policy applies to reservations with arrival dates that fall during the following 2026 holiday and special event periods. These reservations require 90 days notice prior to arrival to receive a refund minus the 20% cancellation fee.
Cancellations and reservations made within 90 days of arrival for these dates are non-refundable.

Holiday weekends and special event stays are in extremely high demand and require advanced planning, staffing, and inventory management. The extended cancellation window helps ensure availability remains fair for all guests and allows us to properly prepare for these peak periods.
If your reservation arrival date falls within one of the listed holiday or special event periods, the Holiday and Special Event cancellation policy will automatically apply.
If you are unsure, our team is always happy to help clarify before you book.
If you need to change your reservation dates or accommodation type please email the requested change(s) to HigginsLakeCampground@acampfire.com (additional processing fees may apply). Reservation dates cannot be moved if outside of the cancellation period listed above. Price reduction in accommodation types will not be honored to reservation(s) changed outside of the cancellation period.
The Weather Guarantee is offered through Sensible Weather; if you have cancelled your reservation with us or changed your reservation dates, you will need to reach out directly to Sensible Weather to cancel or update your reservation information.

The Lock Site Location charge reserves a specific site number rather than a site type. While we guarantee your chosen site type and amenities, our automated optimization system and team members may adjust site locations.
Locking your site ensures that exact location is held exclusively for you and cannot be changed or reassigned. This limits flexibility for extended stays and overall campground flow.
This option is optional and recommended for returning guests who know exactly which site location they prefer or groups reserving individually.
All of our sites and accommodations are set up for individual families and are not allowed to be shared with non-immediate family members.
RV and Tent sites have a maximum occupancy of 8 people. The base rate includes up to 2 people. Any additional people will incur an additional charge per night. Additional people can be added or removed up until check-in (or the original date of arrival). Extra people charges cannot be changed after arrival.
Each of our accommodations have an unique occupancy maximum. Please check the description of your chosen accommodations to see the maximum. Each accommodations includes 2 adults and 2 children in the base rate. Any additional people will incur an additional charge per night.
We love them when leashed and picked up after! They must be accompanied by their master when outside. Pets can not disturb others so please control their barking or meowing accordingly! No aggressive dogs allowed. We have a 3 pet maximum for all sites and cabins. Designated lodges are pet friendly additional charges apply.

Up to one (1) additional vehicle may be added to a site depending on occupancy at the time of reservation for a discounted nightly fee. Additional vehicles not pre-registered must register and pay nightly fees prior to entering the park and a parking area maybe assigned depending on availability/occupancy.

Not all our lodging has AC! Currently our Lodges, Studio Lodges, and 2-room cabins have AC.
Yes! During the chillier months a space heater is provide for our rustic cabins, 2-room cabins, studio lodges, and lodges. Our yurts have propane fireplaces. Please notes that heat is prepared only during the chillier months. If you wish to have a space heater or the pilot lit for propane fireplaces during a warm time of year, please request so at the store.
Each of our lodging units comfortably sleep a minimum of 4 people. Some of our accommodations may allow an occupancy up to 6 people. Please see the descriptions of each accommodation to see the maximum number allowed to stay in a unit. Base rates for accommodations are based on 2 adults and 2 children. Any additional people (within the occupancy limits) will incur an additional charge.

We have dumpsters available on your way out of the campground. Please do not leave any trash outside as it will attract animals.
Gate Cards and Cabin keys must be returned to the office at departure. If you are leaving before the store opens, please put your gate card or cabin keys in the drop box by the front door.
